Terms of Use

Last updated

In short
You can use the Lenslines website freely. When you buy the app, you get a personal license to use it on your Windows devices as the Microsoft Store allows. Your scripts are yours. Please don't copy, redistribute or reverse engineer the app, or use it to deceive people where notes aren't allowed. Microsoft handles purchases and refunds.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Abhijeet Naik, an individual developer based in India who makes and publishes Lenslines (“we”, “us” or “our”). They cover the website at lenslines.in (“the website”) and the Lenslines app for Windows (“the app”). By using the website, or by installing or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use them.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.

The website

You may browse the website and share links to it. The text, design, logos and graphics on the website belong to us, and you may not copy or republish them without our permission, except as the law allows. We provide information on the website, including descriptions of features and prices, in good faith, but it may change. The price you pay for the app is the one shown in the Microsoft Store when you buy it.

Microsoft, Windows, Zoom, Google Meet, Moody and other product names mentioned on the website are trademarks of their respective owners. We mention them only to describe compatibility or to compare products. This doesn't imply any affiliation with or endorsement by those owners.

Your license to use the app

The app is licensed, not sold. When you buy Lenslines through the Microsoft Store, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on the Windows devices associated with your Microsoft account, as the Microsoft Store allows. We keep all other rights in the app, including its code, design and name.

Purchases through the Microsoft Store are also governed by Microsoft's Standard Application License Terms and the Microsoft Store terms of sale. These terms add to Microsoft's terms and should be read together with them.

Purchases, updates and refunds

  • Lenslines is a one-time purchase with no subscription. Microsoft processes the payment, shows the price in your local currency and delivers the download.
  • There is no free trial. The Microsoft Store collects payment before the download.
  • Refunds are handled by Microsoft under its refund policy. We can't issue refunds ourselves, but if something isn't working, email us and we will try to help.
  • We may release updates to fix problems, improve the app or keep it working with Windows. Updates are free and are delivered through the Microsoft Store. An update may change how a feature works, and we may add or remove features over time.

Restrictions

You may not, and may not help anyone else to:

  • copy, sell, rent, lend, sublicense, share or redistribute the app, except as the Microsoft Store allows;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the app, except to the extent the law expressly permits it despite this restriction;
  • remove or change any copyright, trademark or other notices in the app;
  • use the app or the website in a way that breaks the law or infringes the rights of others.

Your scripts belong to you

Anything you write, paste or import into Lenslines belongs to you, or to whoever owns it, and we claim no rights to it. The app stores your content only on your PC, so we never receive it. You are responsible for having the right to use the content you put into the app, and for keeping your own backups.

Acceptable use

Lenslines is made for presenting, teaching, recording and speaking on video. Please use it honestly. Don't use it to deceive people or to break rules that apply to you, for example:

  • in exams, tests or assessments where notes or aids aren't allowed;
  • in job interviews or other evaluations where reading prepared answers isn't permitted;
  • anywhere else that using a hidden script would break the law, a contract, or the rules of a platform, school or employer.

Hiding the prompter from screen capture is meant to keep your notes out of your presentation, not to mislead anyone. You are responsible for how you use the app.

Disclaimer

The website and the app are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, that it will be hidden from every screen capture or recording tool, or that it will work with every device, app or version of Windows. Some places don't allow certain warranties to be excluded, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, opportunities or goodwill, arising from or related to the website or the app. Our total liability for all claims relating to the website or the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Indemnity

If you use the website or the app in breach of these terms or the law, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs we incur as a result.

Ending your license

Your license lasts as long as you keep to these terms. If you seriously breach them, your license to use the app ends. The sections on restrictions, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law continue to apply after that.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. This doesn't take away any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the laws of the country where you live. If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the app, the website or the law changes. We will post the updated terms on this page and change the date at the top. If you keep using the website or the app after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply to you. Changes don't apply to anything that happened before they took effect.
